Community Assessment
Much of our work will be guided by the results of a Comprehensive Community Needs Assessment. The purpose of this assessment is to discover the unique needs of our community as they relate to education, employment, health care, housing, child care, transportation, and legal matters.Understanding the nature and extent of poverty in our area is extremely important to the well being of our community today and in the future.
Why conduct this assessment?This important study ensures that member agencies have a common tool for planning and collaborative efforts.

- To identify opportunities to respond to the needs of low-income and vulnerable children and families in our community.
- For decision-making on our programs, mission, goals and objectives; activities that demonstrate positive outcomes; to ensure program options reflect the needs of the community.
- To apply for funding. All funding sources will want to know how funds will address community needs.
- For internal education of agency staff and Governing Board.
- To network with community resources to enhance services and collaborations.
- To assess current services in light of community needs.
- For advocacy purposes.

Not a member yet?Participant/Volunteer TrainingAny individual wishing to participate in the community assessment implementation has to attend training, whether agency staff or community volunteer.

Memorandum of Understanding and Agency Questionnaire
Participating member agencies are required to complete a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which describes the responsibilities and expectations between East Texas Human Needs Network (ETHNN) and your agency, and an Agency Questionnaire which will facilitate implementation logistics.
